African American Churches Eating Smart and Moving More - Planning and Resource Guide assists churches with planning, promoting and implementing programs for health and wellness. This resorce educes health disparities among African Americans in North Carolina by helping faith-based organizations increase opportunities for healthy eating and increased physical activity.

The Guide encourages community health professionals and African-American Church leaders to form partnerships to work on nutrition and physical activity. The Guide contains sample policies and resources that promote increasing fruits, vegetables and other healthy foods in the diet and increasing physical activity. The Guide does not focuson specific chronic diseases

An advisory committee with representatives from public health, churches and universities developed the Guide using.lessons learned from other faith-based projects.

To date, several trainings have been conducted to introduce the Guide and share information on how to plan and conduct church-based programs. The Guide is now available to anyone. Please note that there are two versions of the form –one is a Word document and one is set up as a “form template” (.dot). Use whichever form is easier for you to complete and return.
