NC’s Move More Scholars Institute Featured in CDC Journal

The Move More Scholars Institute, a 4-day training course for community-based physical activity practitioners in North Carolina, was featured in the July edition of the Journal of Preventing Chronic Disease. The goal of the Institute is to build capacity for local physical activity practitioners to create policy and environmental change, especially with regards to the built environment.

The article describes the planning, implementation, and initial response to the Move More Scholars Institute. Lori Schneider, MA, CHES, Physical Activity Specialist with the Physical Activity and Nutrition Branch, NC Division of Public Health co-authored the article with Dianne Ward, EdD of UNC-Chapel Hill; Carolyn Dunn, PhD of NC State University, NC Cooperative Extension Service; Amber Vaughn, MPH, UNC-Chapel Hill; Jimmy Newkirk, NC Division of Public Health; and Cathy Thomas, MAEd, CHES, NC Division of Public Health.
