Move More Scholars Institute
What
The Move More Scholars Institute (MMSI) is an intensive four day training course for community-based physical activity professionals in North Carolina. Scholars learn how to promote and support physical activity in their communities by using evidence based strategies to create polices, practices, and environmental changes. The course is taught through educational sessions led by nationally recognized faculty, formal and informal interactions with faculty and other scholars, and small group projects.

The MMSI is offered annually in Spring, pending the availability of funding.

The MMSI is held in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Why
The MMSI trains local physical activity professionals to use both national and North Carolina specific resources to plan, implement and evaluate community based physical activity interventions. Community-based interventions include those targeted to individual, interpersonal, organizational, policy and environmental level change. The MMSI is for community-based physical activity professionals in North Carolina. Community-based physical activity professionals are any professional in North Carolina who partners with other organizations to create policies, practices and environments that promote and support physical activity in their community. Scholars are chosen through a selective application process.
How
The MMSI supports the Eat Smart, Move More...North Carolina initiative through a curriculum focused on developing policies, practices and environments across the state to promote and support physical activity.
