Take Off-4 Health Summer 2009

East Carolina University is proud to partner with North Carolina 4-H, one of the state’s premier youth organizations, and North Carolina Cooperative Extension to sponsor Take Off 4-Health in summer 2009. Take Off 4-Health is a healthy lifestyle camp for overweight boys and girls ages 12-18. The 3-week residential camp is held each summer at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC and is supported by the ECU Brody School of Medicine. Take Off 4-Health helps campers lose weight, build self esteem and learn the tools necessary to lead a healthy life and reduce their risks of developing chronic disease.

Take Off 4-Health is now accepting campers for the summer 2009 session: Sunday, July 26 – Friday, August 14. The registration fee is $2,250 for the three weeks. A limited number of scholarships are available for overweight youth of Pitt and Bertie counties only. Other funds may also be available for a very limited number of type 2 diabetics from NC who are highly motivated to attend the camp. To download an application or register online, visit the Eastern 4-H Center’s web site at www.eastern4hcenter.org For more information about scholarship opportunities, contact Yancey Crawford at crawfordy@ecu.edu
